History doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because someone makes it move.
As a Fulton County Commissioner, I created the Fulton County Reparations Task Force to confront the real, documented harms of slavery, Jim Crow, and systemic racism right here in our county.
I proudly made the motion to accept the 600-page Harm Report, a comprehensive record of those harms and their lasting impact on Black families and communities in Fulton County.
I also secured $250,000 to fund the completion of this historic report, ensuring the work was done thoroughly, professionally, and with integrity.
And I authored and passed the resolution extending the Task Force’s work for an additional two years, so they can return with concrete, actionable recommendations—not just words, but solutions.
I want to thank the members of the Fulton County Reparations Task Force for their tireless work and commitment, and extend special appreciation to Chair Karcheik Sims Alvarado @historianinheels and Vice Chair Marcus Coleman @marcustcoleman for their leadership throughout this historic process.
This is what leadership looks like:
✔️ Truth
✔️ Accountability
✔️ Action
The work continues.
