Progress on Abbotts Bridge Road Improvements

Construction is actively progressing on the Abbotts Bridge Road improvement project. Recently, the retaining wall near Donnington Drive was completed, along with the installation of 18 bridge beams. Utility relocations are ongoing, with electric utility poles being shifted along the project route.

This project includes the addition of turn lanes, medians, sidewalks, and bike lanes, matching the improvements on Abbotts Bridge Road between Jones Bridge Road and Parsons Road. The new turn lanes will enhance safety and improve traffic flow for motorists, while addressing existing substandard horizontal and vertical roadway curves, particularly around the Abbotts Run neighborhood.

This week, the bridge decking will be installed, and various utilities—including water main lines, fire hydrants, and electrical poles—are being set up. Construction is expected to be complete by spring 2027.
