Enhancing Accessibility in Atlanta

According to recent reports, District 2 Council member Carden Wyckoff has introduced an ordinance to improve accessibility in Atlanta. If approved, this ordinance would mandate that newly constructed buildings with sidewalk access install push-button activators for automatic door openers.

This legislation aims to facilitate easier access for pedestrians with disabilities, representing a significant step towards a more inclusive city. Council member Wyckoff emphasized, “This bill represents a major step forward in Atlanta’s efforts to foster a more inclusive and accessible city for all.”

The proposal is set for discussion in the upcoming Zoning Committee meeting, highlighting the city’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity.
